What Seedance 2.5 made in our tests

We rendered these on 16 and 17 October 2026, each 5 seconds at 720p. Each prompt ran once; two more clips were paid for but lost to a network drop before we could save them. Press play for sound, or Try this prompt to load it into the box above.

Three shots in one 5-second clip

16:9, 720p, 5 s, text to video, about 4.5 min to render

All three shots arrive in order, with clean cuts: harbour wall, bell and rope, then the boat far out at sea. Planned cuts inside one clip is what this model is built for.

Prompt we used

Three shots. Shot 1: a wide view of a small red fishing boat leaving a stone harbour at sunrise. Shot 2: close-up of a brass bell and coiled ropes swaying on the deck. Shot 3: the boat is a small dot on a calm golden sea, gulls overhead. Gentle waves and gull cries throughout.

A two-line exchange between two people

16:9, 720p, 5 s, text to video, about 3.5 min to render

It cut from her to him like a sitcom edit, and a speech-to-text pass heard both lines exactly: "You ate my fries." then "Prove it."

Prompt we used

Two friends share a booth in a retro diner at night. The woman points at the empty plate and says: "You ate my fries." The man grins and says: "Prove it." Soft jukebox music, cutlery clinking.

A puppy in the surf at sunset

16:9, 720p, 5 s, text to video, about 3 min to render

A real puppy this time, with floppy ears and slow-motion splashes. The same prompt on MiniMax H3 gave a grown dog.

Prompt we used

A golden retriever puppy runs through shallow ocean waves at sunset, water splashing in slow motion, the camera tracks low beside it, the sound of waves and happy barking.

A spoken line at a rainy bus stop

16:9, 720p, 5 s, text to video, about 5 min to render

A slow push-in with a dark, filmic grade, and the line spoken word for word. Much darker than the same prompt on MiniMax H3, which doubled one word.

Prompt we used

A young woman in a yellow raincoat waits at a rainy bus stop at night, she looks into the camera and says: "Is this the last bus tonight?" Rain drumming on the shelter roof, headlights passing.

Limits we hit with Seedance 2.5

What went sideways, so you know what to check before you spend on a long clip.

  • It is slow: about 3 to 5 minutes per 5-second clip in our runs, against under a minute for MiniMax H3.
  • Our first multi-shot prompt, a lighthouse keeper scene, was refused as possibly copyright-related after about four minutes. Rewording it without the keeper went through. Refusals cost nothing.
  • At 5 seconds, three shots leave under two seconds each. Use 10 or 15 seconds for scenes that need to breathe.

Seedance 2.5 questions

What is Seedance 2.5?

Seedance 2.5 is the video model ByteDance released on 31 July 2026. It turns a written scene or photos into a clip with sound, and it is built for scenes with several shots and short dialogue inside one render. On CastTake you pick it in the studio, choose a length of 5, 8, 10 or 15 seconds at 720p, and see the credit price before you press Generate. We rendered our own test clips with it on 16 and 17 October 2026 and show every clip we could save on this page with its prompt, including two prompts also run through MiniMax H3 for a side-by-side.

Is Seedance 2.5 free?

No, not on CastTake, and it is the priciest video model we sell. Sign-in credits do not cover video renders: your first credit pack opens every video model, and pack credits never expire. A 5-second 720p clip costs 325 credits. If you are still finding the idea, draft it on MiniMax H3 at 10 credits a clip, then spend on Seedance 2.5 once the scene needs several shots or a conversation in one render. Copy one of the prompts on this page so your first paid clip starts from something that already worked.

How much does Seedance 2.5 cost?

On CastTake it costs 325 credits for 5 seconds, 650 for 10 seconds and 975 for 15 seconds, all at 720p. Text, photo and reference-photo clips cost the same. The studio shows the exact total on the Generate button before anything renders, and nothing is charged until you press it. If a render fails, the credits come back. Credits come from a plan or a top-up pack on the pricing page, and every other model's price is on the models page.

Is there a Seedance 2.5 API?

ByteDance offers Seedance 2.5 to developers through its own cloud platform, with keys, quotas and pricing set there. CastTake does not resell API access. What we offer is the finished tool: write the scene, add photos if you want, see the price and download the MP4. If you need clips rather than an integration, that saves writing code and managing keys, and every finished video stays in your account history to download again later, with the prompt you used kept beside it.

Seedance 2.5 or MiniMax H3: which should I use?

Use MiniMax H3 for single shots and lots of tries, and Seedance 2.5 when one clip has to hold several shots or a two-person exchange. On CastTake H3 costs 10 credits for 5 seconds at 720p and Seedance 2.5 costs 325, so you can make many H3 drafts for the price of one Seedance clip. H3 also renders 1080p, while Seedance 2.5 is sold at 720p here. Our two matched prompts below show how they differ on the same words: in one run each, Seedance spoke the bus stop line exactly where H3 doubled a word, and drew a real puppy where H3 drew a grown dog.

How do I write a Seedance 2.5 prompt?

Start with how many shots you want, then describe each one on its own: "Three shots. Shot 1: ... Shot 2: ... Shot 3: ...". Give each shot one subject and one action, because in a 5-second clip each shot only lasts a second or two. Put spoken lines in quotation marks and say who speaks them. Finish with the sound you want, such as waves, music or a crowd. Keep away from real people, brands and well-known characters, since prompts that resemble them can be refused, at no charge but some waiting.
