What TikTok Shop allows in AI UGC
TikTok publishes its rules for AI-generated content on its seller policy page. In short: disclose it, keep the product true to the listing, and do not borrow anyone else's face or credentials. The table paraphrases the page; follow the link for the exact wording.
| Topic | Fine | Not allowed |
|---|---|---|
| Showing the product | AI scenes or animations that show proper use, as long as the scene reflects the real size, material and functions. | Using AI to change the size, color, material, quantity, bundle contents, features or performance of the product. |
| People in the ad | A presenter who is not pretending to be a real, identifiable person. | Imitating another person's identity, likeness or voice to create a false endorsement, or inventing a doctor or professor to sell a health product. |
| Before and after | A comparison the product can back with reliable evidence. | Visuals that compress time or imply instant results. |
| Labelling | Turning on the AI-generated content setting. The page says content is not demoted solely because that setting is on. | Posting content that is fully AI-generated or significantly edited with AI without disclosing it. |
The product-accuracy rule, and what it looks like when an AI tool breaks it
TikTok treats an AI video whose product no longer matches the one being sold as misleading advertising and "product not as described". That is the rule most likely to catch an AI UGC seller, because the failure is quiet: the render looks good, just not like your product.

The safest formats for TikTok Shop are the ones that keep the real product in shot and need no person: a hands-only demo, an unboxing, a problem and its fix. The AI product video generator marks which formats work with hands only.
Where AI UGC fits in a TikTok Shop funnel
AI UGC is one of four ways a TikTok Shop seller gets video, and it earns its place at the start, before anything has proven itself. Spark Ads, which TikTok describes as a format that uses organic posts in advertising, and affiliate commissions, set by the seller and paid on revenue minus refunds, come after.
| Stage | Use | Best for | Not for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hook testing | AI UGC | Trying four or five openings on one product before paying anyone | The single ad the month depends on |
| Paid reach | Spark Ads | Boosting a post that already earned views and comments organically | A post nobody has engaged with yet |
| Scale | Affiliate creators | Paying on sales instead of per video, once the angle is proven | Products with thin margins that cannot carry a commission |
| Hero ad | Paid creator shoot | Reshooting the hook that won the test, with a real person | Finding the hook in the first place |
What UGC creators charge, and where the numbers come from
Creator prices are set by each creator, so any single figure is a snapshot. Two marketplaces publish theirs: Insense says UGC campaigns start at $100 per video, and Collabstr says UGC creators charge $195 on average. Both were read on 24 September 2026. Put whichever you are actually quoted into the calculator above; it is left empty on purpose.
The AI side of the calculator uses the same price list the generator bills against, and includes the 2 credits spent matching each photo to formats. A failed render is refunded; one stopped by content moderation is not.

Three formats from the library this site renders from. None of them puts a person on camera, so none of them can read as somebody vouching for a product they never used.

Questions about AI UGC for TikTok Shop
Is AI UGC allowed on TikTok Shop?
Yes, with conditions that TikTok spells out on its seller policy page for AI-generated content. You have to disclose content that is fully generated or significantly edited with AI, and the product in the video has to match the product you sell: the policy names size, color, material, quantity, bundle contents, features and performance as things AI must not change. It also rules out imitating a real person to create a false endorsement and inventing experts such as doctors to sell health products. A hands-only demo of the real product, labelled as AI, sits well inside those lines.
Does labelling a TikTok Shop video as AI-generated reduce its reach?
Not by itself, according to TikTok. The seller policy page says content will not be demoted or restricted solely because the AI-generated content setting is enabled, provided the video follows the platform rules. What does get videos removed or accounts restricted is the misleading part: a product that looks different from the listing, results the product cannot deliver, or a before and after that squeezes weeks into seconds. So the practical risk is not the label, it is an AI render that quietly changed your product. Check the first and last frame against your listing photo before you post.
How much does AI UGC cost compared with hiring a UGC creator?
The calculator at the top of this page works it out from our live price list: a 10-second ad here costs a little over a dollar in credits, including the 2 credits the agent spends matching your photo to formats. Creator pricing is set by each creator, but two marketplaces publish figures: Insense says UGC campaigns start at $100 per video, and Collabstr says UGC creators charge $195 on average. That gap is the case for testing several hooks with AI first and paying a creator to reshoot only the one that sold.
Can an AI presenter recommend my product on TikTok Shop?
Be careful here. TikTok forbids using AI to imitate or replicate another person to create a false endorsement, and treats fabricated professional identities, such as an AI doctor selling a supplement, as a key enforcement focus. The presenters on this site are fictional and are not modelled on anyone, but a scripted "I use this every day" from someone who never used it is still an endorsement nobody gave. For TikTok Shop, formats that show the product working, being unboxed or solving a problem are the safer choice, and they need no face at all.
Can I run AI UGC as a Spark Ad?
Spark Ads boost organic posts: TikTok describes them as a native format that lets you use organic TikTok posts and their features in advertising, and the likes, comments and shares stay on the original post. So the route is to post the AI video on your own account first, labelled, and boost it once it shows it can hold attention. A creator can also authorise you to boost their post, which is how affiliate content becomes paid reach. Either way the same product-accuracy and disclosure rules apply to the boosted post.
How do TikTok Shop affiliate commissions work with AI UGC?
They sit alongside it rather than replacing it. Affiliate creators are paid a commission that you set, calculated by TikTok as revenue minus refunds, multiplied by the commission rate, and paid out after the order is delivered. That makes affiliates cheap to start with but only once a product already converts. AI UGC is useful before that point: it lets you find which angle works without paying per video, so the brief you send affiliates can point at a hook that has already sold.

Pick one product, make four hooks, and run them as separate posts. Whichever holds attention is the one to hand a creator.
